Random

This update is for Grandma Pam since she was so kind to make Kade's vest and chaps for his Halloween costume. Since I haven't updated our blog since August I decided to put some other pictures on because who knows when I will update it again.

For Labor Day we took a trip to Colorado to visit family and we were able to get out on the boat one last time. The water was pretty cold but Kade didn't seem to mind.
Chris, Kade and Mike enjoying a freezing cold swim. I was in the boat with a sweatshirt on but I did get in the water to go wakeboarding.

The captain of the boat with a binkie! We only let him drive when Mike is skiing.

He loves pizza after eating two pieces he licked the plate.

I was so lucky to be able to fly back to Ohio for the weekend of my very good friend Monica's wedding. It was so much fun.

Grandpa came to visit and took the kids to the scarecrow festival in Lehi.

Kaden loved the bouncy slide but we only went down it twice because it was hard for me to climb up carrying him. Luckily there was lots of other stuff to do so he didn't mind to much.

Kade, Jalen, and Landon flying the airplane.

Grandpa took all the kids to Boondocks too! Kade didn't even need any tokens to have fun.

He saw a guy playing this game and ran right over and grab the gun.

Cowboy Kaden
We dressed him up for a get together we had at our church. Mike was standing within reaching distance of him.

What a cute cowboy.
Thanks for making my costume Grandma.
Love,
Kaden

My Wife is AMAZING!!

Saturday my amazing wife ran a triathlon!

She has been training faithfully every morning at 5am for months.

We left Friday night and stayed the night in Logan. Bright and early Saturday morning we left my Aunt Keri's house and headed up Logan Canyon for Bear Lake. The closer we got the more nervous I could tell she was getting. We got to the race area with plenty of time to spare, she was able to watch some of the other races start and get comfortable with the situation. By the start of the race she had a big smile on her face and was ready to go!

Here she is taking off for the swim. The turn around looked a long way away, but she did great!
She came in off the swim so fast I could barely get a pic, nice hat!

She made the first transition great and took off on her bike.

Emily coming around the last turn into the home stretch, she looked like she could run another 5k and still not break a sweat.

I am so proud of her. She did great and finished the entire race in under 2 hours. I am lucky to have such a wonderful wife, Good job Babe!!!
Oh yeah, she came home after and made dinner!!!!!!

Visiting my Family & Friends

Kaden and I had a wonderful trip to Ohio to visit my family. I was very nervous about flying with an 18 month old. The flight was about 4 hours and I was entertaining the entire time. I was wishing I could be like all the other people on the plane listening to ipods, sleeping, watching a movie, or reading but that wasn't the case. Luckily he did really well on both flights. Mike was supposed to go with us for part of the trip but we canceled his flight when we were able to go to NC with my family. He couldn't miss that much school or work. Here are some pics of all the fun stuff we did in Ohio.

Kaden with his Uncle Andy

We went to the beach one night for a picnic. Kaden loved playing in the sand. It was a beautiful night when we got there but after about 1/2 hour it got really windy and cold. So it was a very short trip to the lake.

Kaden and his cousin Jackson
At the park the kids played for hours. Grandma brought pizza so we were able to enjoy a picnic at the park.

I had a wonderful visit with my very good friend Monica. She came over from Cleveland for the weekend. She was finally able to meet Kaden.

On Sunday afternoon we went for a walk. I think people probably thought we were a daycare. These are just a few of Kaden's cousins.

Kira and Kaden
At the pool there was an area for kids to play in that was only about 1 ft. deep. Kaden played for hours with his cousins.

We had actually worn him out for a few minutes. He sat on the blanket for about 5 minutes and didn't even move. It was short lived but I enjoyed his exhaustion while it lasted.

My friend Jenine came from Cleveland to visit. We went out to dinner at about 8:00 o'clock. Kade was definately a little moody that night due to the long days and squeezing his naps in when we got a chance. Maybe a late dinner wasn't the best idea but it was great to visit with Jenine and her parents.

Our trip to the zoo.

Kaden didn't even want to eat dinner that night. He just wanted to play.

At the splash park in Columbus with his cousin Kennedy.
We were able to go with my sister Jen and her four kids to Columbus for a night to visit my brother, Ryan, and his wife, Megan, and their two kids. My brother Jared and his wife Maria also live in Columbus but Jared is in South America on a backpacking trip for the month. On Saturday Maria made us a delicious dinner (with a yummy dessert) and the kids swam at the pool at their apartment. We were about two hours late for our visit with Maria I guess that's how long it takes to get 7 kids and 4 adults out the door to go swimming.

Kaden loved his cousin Abby's chair and was moving it all around the house to sit on it and tap his foot.

We had a great trip and the 10 days we were in Ohio went way to fast. It's always hard to leave my family espcially since I don't know when I'll see them next. I told Mike I will be planning a two week trip for next summer so hopefully he can come for some of it.

Fun in the Sun

We had an amazing vacation in North Carolina with my entire family. The house we stayed was right on the beach. The kids would go searching for crabs at night and we laid on the beach during the day. We had a couple days of rainy weather but the guys enjoyed the huge waves the storm brought in. My family is pretty loud and rambunctious but Mike survived. Here are just a few of the 160 pics I took while in the Outer Banks.

On our way to the beach house after a long day of traveling. We woke Kade up at 5:30 am to catch our flight. He only slept about a half hour of our 5 hours on the plane. Luckily he slept pretty much our entire ride in the car from the airport to the house. (3 hours)
my sister, Keri, and I
We made a quick stop in Virginia Beach for dinner, a stroll on the boardwalk, and shopping.

Kade backing up over the car tracks. They were giving him some difficulty so he decided to go down them like he goes down the steps.

Glam shots!! Kade posing for a picture before heading off to the beach.

Playing in the sand.

Watching the playoffs on the big screen.

On one of the rainy days we went to the aquarium. Kaden loved all the fish and back up and screamed when the shark swam up to the glass.

Mike looking hot in his wetsuit.

( I don't know how to rotate the picture. Mike will have to do it when he gets home. Hopefully he doesn't delete it.)

The waves don't look that big in the picture but they were huge. I just took a couple pictures and then had to go in because I was freaking out thinking one of my family members might not survive the night.

I gave the boogie board a shot the next day when the waves weren't so big.

He would find a stick to play with each day we went to the beach.

My last day on the beach with my sisters. Mike had to pretty much drag me off the beach so we could catch our flight home.

Eight Days and Counting

Only eight days till my entire family gets together in Outer Banks, NC. I didn't think we would be able to go due to all the testing we do at school during the month of May. Luckily everything fell into place, we finish testing next week and we will be able to go. Mike and I are very excited to go on a vacation. Our vacations the past few years have been to Ohio and Colorado to visit our families. Which we love to do but a change of scenery will be great. I am a little nervous to fly with Kaden. It is hard enough to keep him entertained during church. I will be packing lots of treats and toys. Here is where we will be staying.

Easter

For Easter this year we decided to get Kaden a tricycle. We didn't do a basket and candy but are planning on starting that tradition next year. We looked for a few days and many stores to find the perfect bike. We wanted one that we could push since he is vertically challenged and can't yet reach the pedals. Mike was watching American Chopper and apparently that put him in the mood to build his sons first bike. We couldn't wait to give it to him so Kade got it a day early. He loves it and usually throws a fit when it is time to go inside after riding it.

Luckily it was a beatiful day on Easter since I waited till the last minute to get Kaden's Easter outfit and could only find shorts I liked. There were tons of cute dresses for girls but not much of a selection for boy.

Kaden's favorite place in the house is this cabinet in the kitchen. It takes him very little time to pull everything out and destroy the kitchen.

Playing peek-a-boo with our pots and pans.

Kaden at his first Utah Jazz game. He loved all the people and excitement. The game started at 7:00 so he fell asleep during half time. He will never sleep during church but he can sleep with thousands of people screaming all around him.

We used to put him on the step because he was too afraid to get down and it would keep him in one spot for a few minutes. Now he likes sitting there and he definatly loves his cheerios.

Kaden had been taking three or four steps for a few months now but I didn't consider it walking. Everyone at work kept asking if he was walking yet and I kept saying he is close. It took him a while but now he is pretty steady and can almost run. In the this video he is walking towards the balloon he just had to have from the grocery store. It was just barely out of his reach at the check out and he screamed until I finally got it for him. It was only 1.99 and it has kept him entertained for hours. It was defintaly worth it.

Update

I did so good for a while at posting more often. I am trying to think what has happened the last month with the Wilson family. I had the wonderful opportunity to get stitches after having my feet taken out from under playing basketball. Yeah you guessed it, it was church basketball. I think it is funny that I have played sports pretty much since I could walk and never had an injury. Then, I play one game of church ball, and have to go to urgent care. I actually landed on my chin so my jaw was sore for about a week. This was in the same gym that Mike tore his ACL. I guess the lesson I learned was to stay away from church ball. Mike still continues to play every Thursday and Friday night. His doctors bills were way more expensive than mine so hopefully he has no more injuries. Mike, no injuries, I must be dreaming.
A beatiful up close picture of my stitches. I am trying to get rid of the nasty scar it has left me.

I have also had an eye infection for almost a month now. A couple hundred dollars later and two different doctors and I still have it. I am supposed to be going to the eye doctor again even though it is viral and so far they haven't been able to do much for it. I'm just tired of wearing my glasses.

Kaden is almost walking. I think he has been almost walking for about two months now. He walks between furniture and will take a few steps between Mike and I but that's about it. He has finally learned how to come down the steps on his own. He would constitently go up them and get to the top and cry for us to come help him get down. I was very excited when he finally learned to crawl back and go down them on his own.

Happy Valentine's Day

Kaden recieved a package from his Grandma Wilson. I opened the box for him and let him grab the things out of the box. Here's the order of what he took out of the box:

bag of cookies

another bag of cookies

card

and finally the toys

He is just like his mom! He loves cookies!

Thanks for the package Grandma

Well Mike is working hard to get everything figured out for CLS and keeping busy with school. There have definately been some stressful days the past month but Mike does a good job of taking things day by day. I think he has stopped telling me about any of his stresses with CLS cause I get a bit of anxienty thinking about it all.

Kade on a joy ride with Dad, shhh don't tell Grandma!
