Sleepless Fire-Breathing Dragon

We had a wonderful week with my Dad coming to visit from Ohio, my sister from Idaho, and hanging out with my family that lives here in Utah. I think I gained 5 lbs from the few meals we made and the many my Dad treated us to. Kaden also had his 9 month check up yesterday. He is 10 months but somehow he got a month behind on his visits to the doctor.
I have been off track for the past week and still get to enjoy time off with Kaden the rest of this week. We had some great moments and some not so great moments. I am trying to not be such a push over with him sleeping in his crib. So my goal for while I am off track is to try and get him to take a nap with out being rocked to sleep or comforted for hours at his cribside. He has also been waking up around 5:00 in the moring and I just bring him into bed with us and rock him back to sleep. I wouldn't be able to sleep because he is so heavy and he would lay on my chest and I would have trouble breathing.
So I started this plan of letting him cry it out on Friday. He woke up at 5 am and cried until 7 am. He went down for his nap at 10 am and cried until 11:30. After all those hours of crying I couldn't take it and I got him out. So all he learned for his morning nap was that if he cries for an hour and a half his mom will finally give in. Then Mike came home Friday afternoon and I went to my sister to get a break. Mike put him down at 2pm and he cried until 4pm, then he fell asleep. We are on day 5 of this and he still cries anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Other than nap time he has been a very happy boy. He is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up to everything. He is trying lots of new foods like Ty (Pennington's) homemade rolls, rice, ravoili, pizza, and waffles are his favorite. Actually anything with carbs are his favorite, just what the boy needs right. We went on a trip to Gardner Village to see the witches.
The witch taking care of business as the kids play.

Kaden and Mom out to lunch.

Kade with his Grandpa that came to visit from Ohio.

At a Halloween party in our costumes. I'm a pirate if you can't tell.

Oh man, nap time is always hard I hear. I love the Halloween costumes! Hey, did you know that Amy Davis is pregnant? Anyways, your little guy is cute as ever!

You look so gorgeous, not only as a pirate, but also in the photo up a couple. Your little Kade is cute. Good luck with the nap thing, I think letting him cry is good, but you'll figure it out.

looks like lunch at Zupas! You'll have to share your tips with getting him to sleep... we're trying to get Lexie to sleep at night in her crib right now... so far she's been sleeping like a pro, problem is she's in her swing, not her bed. :(

Man, sounds like a rough week!! I don't envy you on that one. We still have to do that with Addie sometimes and it doesn't get any easier. At least you had a little bit of fun to break up all the miserable.

Love his Halloween costume!! That is so cute. Where's Michael's costume?!

Cute pics of Halloween- except I know one picture that is missing.. ha ha! That sucks that he is crying it out- I am sure it will be worth it later. Don't worry about picking him up every once in a while- I do that too and I think the same thing- all that crying for nothing! O well.
